Florence Abel

Florence Abel, 81, formally of Stephen, MN died in Tucson, AZ January 5, 2008.  

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, February 2, 2008 @ 10:30am. at St Stephen’s Church – Stephen, MN with Visitation beginning at 9:30am and recitation of the Rosary at 10:00am.

Florence Abel was born June 26, 1926 to Stanley and Theresa (Gajeski) Price in rural Stephen, MN. She attended and graduated from Stephen High School and married Vernon Abel October 22, 1946. They were life long resident of Stephen, but the last 8 years they made their permanent home in Tucson.  

In spite of being diagnosed with MS in 1953 and was confined to a wheel chair for the last 35 years, she was a devoted wife and mother.  She rarely complained or made reference to her condition. Special thanks must be given to her husband, family, valued friends and neighbors; because of them she was able to live the best quality of life possible. 

She was a member of St Stephen’s Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and developed skill as an artist and created many oil paintinggs using various techniques.

Florence is survived by her husband, Vernon, daughters: Marilyn Abel, Kathy (Manual) Moreno, Bernie (Larry) Zahara all of Tucson and Marcia Stockwell of San Diego, California. Sons: Jerome of Crookston, John (Karen) of Tucson and Courtney (Bernie) of Stephen; brother Kenneth (Rose Marie) Price of Stephen; 15 Grand Children and 12 Great Grand Children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Raymond Price and sister-in–law Bonnie Pollard; sister and brother-in-law Alvina and Ernie Kranz and Great Grandsons Cory Moreno and Jayson William Gratzek.
