Veronica Rose Schmitz was born on November 16, 1943 in Crookston, MN, the daughter of Theodore and Leona (Hoefer) Schmitz. She was raised in the rural Red Lake Falls, MN area. She attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School and Mount St. Benedict before graduating from Lafayette High School in 1962. After her graduation, she moved to St. Hilaire, MN where she worked for St. Hilaire Plumbing Supply. On November 7, 1970, she was united in marriage to Frank Kasprowicz. They made their home in rural Stephen where they worked side by side on the their farm. Frank died on September 10, 1998. In 2000, she opened VK’s Country Cottage Quilts when she bought a free arm quilting machine.
She had a great love of sewing and made many quilts. Her real love was sewing the quilt tops. Veronica had many hobbies which included crocheting, knitting, gardening, canning and cooking. She was a quiet person who was a true humanitariun.
Veronica was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church where she was active in the ladies group and served as a collection counter. She was also a member of the St. Joseph Divine Mercy Lay Carmelite Community of Red Lake Falls .
Left to mourn her passing are her mother, Leona (Palmer) Bevolden of Red Lake Falls, MN, three sisters; Pauline (Clarence) Kuznia of Bloomington, MN, Ruth (Richard) deNoird of Waubun, MN and Dolores (Mark) Fraire of Olympia, WA and four brothers; Delbert (Eunice) Schmitz and Daniel (Mary Lou) Schmitz of Red Lake Falls, MN, Theodore “Ted” (Cheri) Schmitz of Minneota, MN and Thomas (Carol) Schmitz of Red Lake Falls, MN. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her by her father, husband, sister Bonita Kazmierczak and infant sister.
FUNERAL SERVICES: 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 15, 2004 at the Assumption Catholic Church in Florian, MN. VISITATION: after 5:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Monday, June 14, 2004 at the Assumption Catholic Church in Florian and one hour before the services on Tuesday at the church. INTERMENT: Assumption Cemetery, Florian, MN.
