Pro Life
One of our
basic beliefs as Christians is our relationship with God as co-creators. We have
been gifted and are called to be part of the ongoing process of creation. Our
very nature is one of life-givers, to be a life - giver brings joy to our
experience of life. While to act contrary to our nature opens our lives to
unnecessary sadness and suffering.
One of the great challenges we face is to live as life-givers in
the “culture of death”. We find
ourselves in caught up in a society that does not share our outlook on life. And
condoms behaviors that are damaging to the individual, as well as society.
So what can one do? Most of us will not be involved in large scale
protest to do with pro-life issues. But, we can encourage a life-giving
atmosphere within our own lives. A warm greeting is a pro-life activity, to
partake in the worship of our Faith Community is a pro life activity, to refuse
to be entertained by stories of twisted lives is a pro life activity and I know
there are many others.
These are but a few small suggestions, I felt could be part of
my life. But, inspite of the
smallness of our actions, in faith both you and I know we are contributing to the well-being of creation, which
is a worthy response to God’s call.
