Number 65 - March 2009

L.O.W. Annual Meeting Time Is Upon Us

Our Annual Meeting of the Lake of the Woods Steam and Gas Engine Association has been scheduled for 2:00 PM, Sunday, March 15, 2009 at the Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church, located on Rocky Point RD (County RD 17), 6 miles North of Roosevelt.

As usual, there is much business to discuss in preparation for this years show; election of directors, discussion of work that need to be done, ways to improve our show, along with good fellowship with old and/or new friends, and of course enjoy some good refreshments. There may also be some discussion about what additional types of fundraising can we think of to help support our annual show. Bring your ideas.

Also bring along any of your friends who may be interested in exhibiting, playing with or just looking at any of the Old Tractors, Cars, Engines, Farm Equipment, and other Old Stuff that was used many years ago by our ancestors on the farm, home and etc. Perhaps we can encourage them to become members of our small, but great, organization.

Call Troy Comstock at 424-7455 or Steve LaDuke at 386-1302 or William Olson at 442-6381for more information about our association and our show.

If you have an E-mail address, even if you think I may have it, please send it to me, because some have changed and are no longer valid. That way I can update you on occasion about what’s going on.

It is with a note of sadness that we must report about the recent loss of some family members within our Steam Family. DeEtta Comstock, Duane’s wife & Rhonda McFarlane’s mother, passed away on February 4, 2009. DeEtta was active in many areas of the community as well as our Steam Show. Her presence will be surely be missed by many. Then near the time of DeEtta’s funeral, Rhonda’s husband, Carter McFarlane’s mother passed away, deepening the sorrow in the family. Our prayers & condolences go out to both the Comstock & McFarlane families during this time of loss and sorrow.

If you would like a copy of the membership list, please let me know and I'll get one for you.
