CRUCIFIED AND RESURRECTED WITH JESUS

Did you know that President Bush talked with Moses?  I read about it this week in an e-mail.  We all know that anything that comes in our e-mail must be true, right?

George W. Bush, in an airport lobby, noticed a man in a long
flowing white robe with a long flowing white beard and
flowing white hair. The man had a staff in one hand and some
stone tablets under the other arm.

George W. Bush approached the man and inquired, "Are you
Moses?"

The man ignored George W. Bush and stared at the ceiling.

George W. Bush positioned himself more directly in the man's
view and asked again, "You really look like Moses. Are you
Moses?"

The man continued to peruse the ceiling.

Finally, George W. Bush tugged at the man's sleeve and asked
once more, "Are you Moses?"

Irritated, the man finally responded.

"Yes, I am."

"Why were you being so uppity?" George W. Bush asked.

Moses replied, "The last time a bush spoke to me I ended up
spending forty years in the wilderness."

Did President Bush talk to Moses?  No.

Did Jesus Christ die for my sin?  Yes!

Was Jesus Christ buried and raised the third day?  Yes!

This is of first importance; this is our gospel.

Now let’s read Galatians 2:20.

“I have been crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live, yet not I but Christ who lives within me” (Galatians 2:20).

This is not, according to Oswald Chambers, a done deal at the time of our salvation.  Is that true or not?

Has Christ been crucified and resurrected?  Yea!  All those in favor say: You better believe it!

We, who have believed, know that Christ has been crucified, buried, and rose from the dead.

My question concerns the statements of Scripture that makes concerning my crucifixion with Him and my resurrection with Him.

Has that happened?

What would you say?  Yea or nay.

Just as the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus the Christ is a clear and obvious fact to His church; so the co-crucifixion and co-resurrection of his children should also be an obvious fact to His church.

How can this be?

This is answered in two important ways:

I.                    My position (safe and secure salvation).

bullet

Sower (Matthew 13:1-23).

-         snatched seeds (no even a start)

-         no roots (he falls away)

-         choked out (no fruit)

-         crop producers (100, 60, 30 times fruit bearers)

THIS IS HAPPENING IN THIS CHURCH RIGHT NOW!

bullet

Wheat and weeds (Matthew 13:24-29).

-         rooted wheat

-         rooted weeds

-         both grow rooted down together

-         the Son of Man will separate the weeds from the wheat (explanation in vs. 36-43).

THIS IS HAPPENING IN THIS CHURCH TODAY!

bullet

Sheep and goats (Matthew 25:31-46).

-         gathered together as nations (amazing!)

-         separated person by person

-         sheep on one side goats on the other

-         goats go away to everlasting punishments

-         sheep invited into everlasting life

EVERYONE HERE TODAY IS NOT A SHEEP.

EVERYONE HERE TODAY IS NOT A GOAT.

THE SON OF MAN KNOWS!

bullet

False prophets in sheep’s clothing (Matthew 7:15-20).

THIS IS HAPPENING TODAY!

Let’s hope that we have the real deal at Warroad Baptist.

The Lord of the Harvest says to look at the fruit.

-         You can’t do this in a single meeting.

-         You can’t ruin this with a single fall.

-         You can’t establish this in a single season.

-         You can look at this . . . and with the help of God’s Holy Spirit say . . . that’s a dandy basket full of fruit.

There is no, “whew I almost lost it!”

There is no, “I missed it by this much.”

We are either rooted wheat or rooted weeds.

We are either feasting like a sheep or eating garbage like a goat.

Secure.

Safe.

This is our position.

(“I’m going to keep my eye on you” is what an old timer said to me in this church 9 years ago, when I preached such things.  That’s good – especially since I’m keeping my eye on him too!)

Just as the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus the Christ is a clear and obvious fact to His church; so the co-crucifixion and co-resurrection of his children should also be an obvious fact to His church.

How can this be?

This is answered in two important ways:

My position (safe and secure salvation).

II.                 My decision (constantly changing and progressing sanctification).

bullet

Good fruit or bad fruit? (Matthew 7:15-20).

bullet

Fruit or no fruit? (Matthew 21:18-22).

The fruit tree withered because it had no fruit.  What is that all about?

-         Mark 11:22-24 = Have faith in God and pray

-         Mark 11:25 = When you pray, forgive, and don’t be bitter

bullet

How is the Father glorified in his disciples? (John 15:8 – when we bear fruit, good fruit that is)

“I have been crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live, yet not I but Christ who lives within me” (Galatians 2:20).

This is not, according to Oswald Chambers, a done deal at the time of our salvation.  Is that true or not?

My Position – yes.

My Decision – the votes are not yet in.

Chambers:  Co-crucifixion – Have I made this decision about sin – that is must be killed right out in me?  It takes a long time to come to a moral decision about sin, but it is the great moment in my life when I do decide that just as Jesus Christ died for the sin of the world, so sin must die out in me, not be curbed or suppressed or counteracted, but crucified.  No one else can make this decision (Romans 6:6).

Chambers:  Co-resurrection – The proof that I have been through crucifixion with Jesus is that I have a decided likeness to Him.  The incoming of the Spirit of Jesus into me readjusts my personal life to God.  The resurrection of Jesus has given Him authority to impart the life of God to me, and my experimental life must be constructed on the basis of His life.  I can have the resurrection life of Jesus now, and it will show itself in holiness (Romans 6:5).
