Somebody said it takes about six weeks to get back to normal after you've had a baby.... somebody doesn't know that once you're a mother, "normal" is history.

Somebody said you learn how to be a mother by instinct .... somebody never took a three-year-old shopping.

Somebody said being a mother is boring ....  somebody never rode in a car driven by a teenager with a driver's permit.

Somebody said if you're a "good" mother, your child will "turn out good"....somebody thinks a child comes with directions and a guarantee.

Somebody said "good" mothers never raise their voices .... somebody never came out the back door just in time to see her child hit a golf ball through the neighbor's kitchen window.

How does one like me dare to preach a message to Mothers?

How can I preach a Mother’s Day message – doesn’t that leave some of us out?  No sir; the last I checked, every one of us has a mother.

Isn’t that a corker?  Motherhood is much more than just having children.  If you are alive – unless you actually came from something outside of the human race – you have a mother.

Isn’t it interesting that the in false idol worship there is always a feminine mother deity?  Fertility goddess.

bullet

Is it important that the Lord has revealed Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit?

bullet

Those who believe this never underestimate the importance and place of honor of our Mother.

bullet

Isn’t it interesting that the Son of God had a mother?  Luke 1:26-38.

We don’t worship her because of this honor, but we do take a long look, and it should make us wonder.  Jesus honored His mother.

“Women will be saved through childbearing – if they continue in faith, love, and holiness with propriety” (I Timothy 3:15).

Women saved us through the miracle of childbearing, given to them by their Creator.

Thank you.

Why is this do hard for us to see?

Because of the fall and the curse.

It was not painful for Adam and Eve to live together . . . before the fall.

Isn’t it interesting that they are only two who didn’t have a mother:

Eve – who is actually the mother of all the living (Genesis 3:20).

Adam – who had the responsibility of headship of the entire human race and failed; “death came by sin” (Romans 5).  But he had the privilege of naming with great understanding and “knowing” the mother of all the living.

So, we will leave these two in the special class that they deserve.

All the rest of us had a mother.

Everyone who has ever lived . . . has had a mother.

And the reason we had mother is because we had a father.

Isn’t it interesting that the Lord made it a point to explain that He made us male and female?   Genesis 1:27.

Isn’t it interesting that the promise of crushing the serpents head through offspring was given to our mother?  Genesis 3:15.

This will be accomplished, however, through great pain.

Isn’t it interesting that the promise of returning to dust was given to our father?  Genesis 3:17-19.

The Federal Head or Seminal Head of our race would began our never ending job of working this cursed ground – and this would be done through great pain.  Always being reminded – this is what you came from and to this you will return.

I wonder if the Lord God cried when He gave these pronouncements that day . . . the One who would crush the serpent’s head did in John 11:35 – “Jesus wept”.

Isn’t it interesting that this is how it will be until the end of time as we know it?

Matthew 24:19.

Matthew 24:36-39.

Notice what the Lord calls the cataclysmic events that precede His Second Coming – Matthew 24:8, “All these are the beginning of birth pains.”

Every one of us are in this – right up to our necks!

Is it a wonder to us that the Lord says so clearly:  Honor your Father and Mother.

bullet

Exodus 20:12 – Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord you God is giving you.

bullet

Deuteronomy 5:16 – Honor your father and your mother as the Lord you God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

bullet

Ephesians 6:1-2, “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.  Honor you father and mother – which is the first commandment with a promise – that is may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”

Children are to obey – also said in Colossians 3:20, “Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.”

Honor your father and mother – is connected with children obeying.

But . . . the 5th commandment was not given to the children . . . it was given to all.

We, who were made in God’s image, were made male and female, to be fathers and mothers.

Every one of us came from this arrangement – IT IS TO BE HONORED.

Many of us have become a working part of this arrangement – IT IS TO BE HONORED.

Everyone who is saved by the blood of Jesus Christ, has been saved because of God’s plan through this arrangement – THIS IS A GREAT WONDER!

No matter how bad we mess this up.

This is what the arrangement will be right up until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

We have God’s Word on this.

Somebody said a mother can find all the answers to her child-rearing questions in the books.... somebody never had a child stuff beans up his nose or in his ears.

Somebody said the hardest part of being a mother is labor and delivery....somebody never watched her "baby" get on the bus for the first day of  kindergarten or on a plane headed for military "boot camp."

Somebody said a mother can do her job with her eyes closed and one hand tied behind her back ...somebody never organized seven giggling Brownies to sell cookies.

Somebody said a mother can stop worrying after her child gets married....somebody doesn't know that marriage adds a new son or daughter-in-law to a mother's heartstrings.

Somebody said a mother's job is done when her last child leaves home....somebody never had grandchildren.

Somebody said your mother knows you love her, so you don't need to tell her.... somebody isn't a mother.
