That is where we are today.  What does Psalm 117, the shortest chapter in Scripture, say?

ALL THE NATIONS SHOULD PRAISE THE LORD!

This is a big deal from such a short chapter.

We understand the importance of an individual personal relationship with the Lord; right?  The Lord has shown and told us this; but the Lord sees all the individuals of this world in their groups and settings.

Individual . . . family . . . church . . . community . . . state . . . nation . . . all nations . . . which means all people . . . which takes us back to the individual.

WHY SHOULD NATIONS PRAISE THE LORD?

Two reasons from Psalm 117.

I.                    The nations should praise the Lord because of His great love toward us.

bullet

Romans 5:8, "God demonstrated his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

bullet

Philippians 2:9-11, "Therefore God has exalted Him and given Him a name that is above all names; that at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord to the glory of God the Father."

II.                 The nations should praise the Lord because of His enduring faithfulness.

  1. Nations are to be humble (read Romans  10 and 11).

bullet

Jews are not to be proud even though they were chosen to bring God's Word and God's Son to this world.

bullet

Gentiles are not to be haughty even though they were grafted in to bring glory to God and salvation to the ends of the earth.

What shall the world say concerning this?

Hallelujah!

  1. Nations are to be comforted when they say hallelujah (Isaiah 40).

bullet

There is a specific plan for Jerusalem (40:2).

bullet

There is a specific care for Israel (40:27).

bullet

A kingdom promised specifically to Israel will be fulfilled - a millennial 1000 year kingdom.

bullet

While this is accomplished the entire world and all nations will be effected (notice Isaiah 41:20).  The hand of the Lord has done this; the Holy One of Israel has created it.

What shall the world say concerning this?

Hallelujah!

  1. Nations are to be separated when they say hallelujah (Matthew 25:31-46).

bullet

The Lord has told us a great deal on these important issues.

-         war . . . sickness . . . fighting . . . death

-         peace . . brotherly kindness . . . love . . . compassion . . . stand in awe of God

-         He will bring this to a close in His time.

bullet

The people are doing these things unwittingly (Mt. 25:34 and 46).

bullet

The startling revelation is that these are nations!

What shall the world say concerning this?

Hallelujah!

WHY SHOULD NATIONS PRAISE THE LORD?

Two reasons from Psalm 117.
